Membership

LNCS offers year-round access to Lake Norman without the hassle of renting equipment each time you want to go out on the lake. Our equipment is available seven days a week, sunrise to sunset for our members.

Membership Privileges Include:

Access to our fleet of sailboats: Flying Scots and Sunfish
Access to our Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs)
Access to our kayaks
Participation in all regularly scheduled Social Sails and special events
Open Sailing (sailing on your own outside of Social Sails) once you are skipper qualified
Access to equipment seven days a week, sunrise to sunset

Here's how it works:

Purchase a membership online, by phone or in person and immediately begin using the SUPs, kayaks and coming to Social Sails (Social Sails are for adult members age 18+, only), no sailing experience necessary.
Upon joining, call the office to obtain the combo to unlock equipment and to learn about the equipment check-out process. It is simple. We do not have to be present for you to use our equipment.
Sailors can get their "skipper check-out" during a Social Sail on Wednesdays at 4:30pm or Saturdays at 9:00am or 1:00pm (dates/times may vary due to weather). Your skipper check-out is based on your sailing ability so if you do not know how to sail or if you are a beginner it may take you some time to get qualified.
Once skipper qualified, you can check out a Sunfish or a Flying Scot on your own for open sailing. "Open sailing" is unsupervised sailing outside of scheduled events. During open sailing you may take guests along with you on the Flying Scot free of charge.
If you have taken one of our Learn to Sail classes, you are immediately qualified to use the Sunfish. You will need to learn how to rig it.
Beginner sailors are encouraged to take our Learn to Sail class ($365) in addition to attending Social Sails.
There is NO swimming/jumping from the dock.
Guests:

Members can bring guests on the SUPs and kayaks for $15 per guest.
Members can bring adult guests to Social Sails. If the same guest attends more than once, we ask that the guest purchase a Membership. Each Social Sail is limited to two member invited guests total.
During open sailing (sailing outside of Social Sail), members can take guests with them on the Flying Scot free of charge.

Types of Memberships:

12 Month Family Membership: $650
(Equipment available to spouses/partners and children ages 22 and under)

12 Month Adult Membership: $500
(Equipment available to single person age 18+)

Three Month Adult Membership: $345
(Equipment available to single person age 18+ for three consecutive months)

Payment is required at time of registration. All transactions incur a $3 transaction fee. You may pay online with a card, in person with cash or check or mail a check indicating the membership you are purchasing. All participants must complete a Waiver.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATIONS

As a new member, you have received a welcome email with LOTS of information and some links to other helpful documents. Hopefully you have had a chance to review this information. We would now like to invite our you to a New Member Orientation and Fun Sail. If you have purchased a new membership within the past 12 months, feel free to sign up for one of the upcoming Orientations. We will give you a brief tour of the facilities, show you how to use the Equipment Checkout Log and answer any questions you may have.

These events will take place during our regularly scheduled Social Sail time. Instead of a race-formatted Social Sail, we are encouraging our checked-out skippers to sign up as usual and take our new members out for a fun sail. Our hope is that you enjoy the Flying Scot and start attending our regularly scheduled Social Sail events; connect with other sailors via our WhatsApp groups to go Open Sailing; and just get more involved, taking full advantage of the equipment we offer.
